Christmas in China is celebrated on the 25th of December. Only 1% of people are Christian so many do not even celebrate Christmas! . They usually celebrate Christmas in relatively big cities. Chinese don't have many real trees, they're mostly plastic. However, those that do decorate a tree use long, long, paper chains, paper lanterns and white or red medium flowers. Many do not have Christmas trees. Some decorate their houses with red paper lanterns.They sell apples on Christmas eve and on Christmas night they go carol singing. Jingle bells is a big hit in China. Santa Claus in China is known as "Shen Dan Lao ren" he is almost exactly like our Santa Claus.Chinese people give each other inexpensive gifts, like bells, wooden tea sets, and little China dolls. Even though Christmas is not popular today, it's getting more popular. The big celebration in China isn't Christmas but is the Chinese New Year, which is near the end of January.
