Christmas in Egypt is celebrated on January 7. Unlike the USA, we celebrate Christmas on Dec 25. "Mboni Chrismen" is how the Egyptians say Merry Christmas. They eat Fata a lamb soup made from bread, rice, garlic and boiled lamb meat on this special day. Forty-three days before X-mas Egyptians only eat veggies. However, there is an exception to that for old or ill people can eat meat. It is called The Holy Nativity feast.Santa is called Baba Noel and he climbs through children's windows! Children hope that Baba Noel will leave them gifts. They'll even leave him kahk. Kahk is an Egyptian sweet biscuit or cookie. Christmas night they go to church for a special liturgy. The month before Christmas is called Kiahk where they sing special religious songs.
